Looking for a grower/manager for our garden center/nursery.


We grow perennials, annuals, some shrubs, succulents, vegetable starts, cut flowers, and herbs. In addition we have 20 acres of fields where we grow every vegetable imaginable for sale at our roadside stand.


Description:


  1. This job would encompass all facets of growing. It starts with planting plugs, seeds, and bare root starts in early spring and moves on to maintaining those in our 6 growing greenhouses.
  2. A nursery manager would be responsible for monitoring plant material for disease or insect problems and setting up a spray schedule/ fertilizer program. They will be supervising the irrigation and day to day maintenance of the greenhouses as well.
  3. As the season progresses, we need someone to set up sales displays and represent Moors End Farm as a sales associate. As such a candidate must have a working knowledge of annuals and perennials grown in the northeast.
  4. As the season moves into summer, a nursery manager would be responsible for keeping the nursery looking clean and organized as the attention turns to vegetable production. Tasks may include weeding, watering, repotting, transplanting, and ordering any sold out materials.
  5. At the end of the season the nursery is put away for winter, Christmas tree sales are on for /, and after a break in , we start again.


Salary:


$40,000 - $50,000 / year
